Solid Wall External Wall Insulation
The Background: This 1920’s semi detached house had several alterations and extensions over the years. The home owners were looking to upgrade the thermal efficiency of the building as it was costly to heat and suffering from condensation and isolated areas and damp. After initially looking into cavity wall insulation they established the wall construction type could not receive cavity fill insulation, so contacted Avant Coatings to consider other options.
Project: Solid wall constructed semi detached house – Bramhope, Leeds
Size: 180m2
Product: Ecosy Solid wall insulation system (SWIS)
Client: Private home owner
The Problem: The client needed a solution to condensation and high heating costs. Parts of the structure were added in the 1960’s and 1980’s incorporating a cavity. Most of the building was rendered which was in need of refurbishment as it was allowing moisture to enter structure.
The solution: Our Ecosy external wall insulation was specified with an acrylic finish and stone detailing to the window cills and headers. Our client chose to install our Ecosy system to the entire structure as it is far more thermally efficient as a cavity fill insulation would have been.
The benefits: Our Ecosy system provided the client with a complete solution to several problems that the building was experiencing including the need of external refurbishment, penetrating damp, interstitial condensation, lack of insulation and high heating costs. Our tailored solutions allowed us the flexibility to design and install our Ecosy system in keeping with the original look of the building and the neighbouring properties. Our Ecosy system comes with a 10year guarantee for the clients piece of mind with a life expectancy of 25 years +.
